With so many option for getting fit these days, it's hard to choose what you want to be a part of: Exercise videos, HIIT workouts ( for those of your who are like whaaaaaas that lol... It's high intensity interval training), Zumba, U-Jam, plyometrics, weight lifting, walking, biking, treadmills, elliptical, rowing...geez this list could truly go on forever. In the end it doesn't matter! The best advice that I could give to anyone just starting on your journey is, do what you like! It is easy to fall into the mindset that you are SUPPOSED to do one thing over the other, but that's just not the case. Life has too many rules as is, so when you start to box yourself in with certain parameters, you're limiting yourself on finding something that truly works for you.
I've done boxing before, that was great cardio. Step is something I've tried a few times. OMG! I felt like the most uncoordinated person learning those new steps, and the level of understanding needed reminded me of how it felt for me to learn calculus in high school lol.
However, one thing that I found that I love is weights.....I. Love. Them. <3 Cardio exercises are great, but when you talk about getting results quicker, weights are the beez-kneez. Don't be afraid to venture to the weight area in the gym lol. I know it's usually inundated with buff men, or ones that are trying to get there, but that's ok. In fact, ask them how to use the machines if your not sure how! You can also use water jugs, or canned foods when you're at home and looking for toning opportunities.
In essence, don't be afraid to try new things. Go to that dance class, run, walk, do weights at home, in the park, at the gym...Hell, it doesn't matter where you do it, just as long as you do something! Find what you like and stick with it! When you #domore, you will start to see those results in the end.
